Dr. Aronoff has been a practicing clinical psychologist for thirty-five years.
After completing a pre-doctoral fellowship at Harvard's Cambridge City Hospital, Dr. Aronoff spent the first decade of his career at the internationally renowned Austen Riggs Center, an open psychiatric hospital and center for education, research, and psychotherapy in Stockbridge, MA where Norman Rockwell illustrated some of his famous pictures of idyllic, small-town America.
During his tenure at the Austen Riggs Center, Dr. Aronoff treated inpatients with severe psychiatric disorders using intensive psychodynamic psychotherapy and simultaneously became certified as a psychoanalyst from the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. At the Austen Riggs Center, Dr. Aronoff worked and trained with renowned psychoanalysts affiliated with the American and the International Psychoanalytic Associations.
Today, Dr. Aronoff is in private practice in Stockbridge, MA, where he has worked over the past two and a half decades with adolescents, families, adults, couples, and the elderly. He specializes in working with boys and young men, focusing on four key mindsets to develop self-empowerment. These mindsets include hard work, team, health, and problem-solving.
Dr. Aronoff emphasizes a team approach, whether he is working with an individual, a couple, a family, a small business, or an athletic team. Everyone is a contributing member, and everyone has a different role. Even in individual counseling, Dr. Aronoff views the therapy relationship as a team, involving therapist and client.
Dr. Aronoff is a certified Group Fitness Trainer from the American Council of Exercise and has his National and Advanced National Diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He has been coaching high school and youth soccer and basketball teams since 1998. Dr. Aronoff was nominated into the Berkshire County Soccer Hall of Fame in 2017.
Dr. Aronoff also leads inspirational morning walks four times a week at the renowned Canyon Ranch Health Spa in Lenox, MA, as an Outdoor Sports guide, where he speaks on topics related to well-being, health, success, happiness, the mind-body-spirit connection, and the Power of Change.
Dr. Aronoff has been faculty at the College of Executive Coaching in Arroyo Grande, CA, for 12 years. In this capacity, he teaches an international course twice a year on positive psychology, is a guest lecturer on physical well-being, and mentors professionals and leaders in their respective fields who are seeking certification as a personal and executive coach.
Dr. Aronoff earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University, an M.A. in clinical psychology from Alliant International University (formerly the California School of Professional Psychology), and an M.S. in experimental psychology from Ohio University. He has been a licensed psychologist in the state of Massachusetts since 1986 and is a Professional Certified Coach from the International Coach Federation, an Advanced Certified Professional and Executive Coach from the College of Executive Coaching, a Certified Master Mentor Coach, and a Certified Master Wellness Coach. Dr. Aronoff is an identical twin; his twin brother, Kenny Aronoff, was voted Rolling Stone Magazine’s “100 Top Greatest Drummer’s of All Time.”
